Wine in the Markthalle Neun (Kreuzberg)

There was in all seriousness a discussion in the blogs as to whether Markthalle Neun in Kreuzberg was the new Berghain. The hype around the world´s once best techno club Berghain has somewhat died down - wining and dining is, after all, the new way to spend an evening out.

Hence the excitement about street food and Markthalle Neun continues unabated. Thousands of foodies still flock to “Street Food Thursday” in the Kreuzberg Markthalle, which is meanwhile bursting at the seams. And even the prejudice that a pulled pork burger from Big Stuff Smoked BBQ and an okonomiyaki, also called Japanese Pizza, only goes with a craft beer – is by no means correct.

Wine plays an important role here – after all, the Kreuzberg wine shop “Suff” has been involved in Markthalle Neun from the very beginning. At the market stand there are over 200 different wines, at least 30 of which are available by the glass, from well-made everyday bottlings to Alte Reben (“old vines”) from German cellars, natural wines or those which are a perfect choice for pulled pork burgers or for the small budget.
